This 15W-50 premium hydrostatic oil is engineered with a high zinc, synthetic base, ensuring exceptional stability and performance. It maintains superior viscosity even at high temperatures, thanks to its high levels of zinc phosphorus and minimal viscosity modifiers.

Key Benefits & Usage:

• Long-Lasting Performance: Designed to maximize oil change intervals and extend the life of drive systems in nearly all lawn mower hydrostatic applications. While 500-hour changes are recommended, testing shows it retains essential properties beyond 2000 hours.

• Initial Fill Recommendation: For new machines, this oil should remain in the system for the first full interval after break-in.

• Compatibility: Compatible and mixable with Mobil 1 15W-50.

Important Oil Guidelines (DOs and DON'Ts):

• DO NOT Use:

  • Tractor hydrostatic or transmission oils, as they often contain friction modifiers unsuitable for wet clutches.

  • Non-synthetic or synthetic blend oils, as they cannot provide the necessary shear resistance.

  • 20W-50 oils, as this often indicates they are not 100% synthetic.

• Recommended Alternatives (must meet critical viscosity criteria):

  • Mobil 1 15W-50

  • Aero Shell 15W-50 (noted for high viscosity index, ashless additives, absence of diesel engine additives, and global availability).

• Critical Viscosity Criteria: Ideal operating viscosity of 13cSt, and a minimum of 9cSt at max intermittent operating temperatures (~230°F).

Note on Hydro-Gear Products:

Hydro-Gear branded oil and service kits are NOT recommended for Wright pump and motor systems. While suitable for standardized transmission-based systems, they do not meet the synthetic oil standards required by Wright's pump and motor systems.
